What am I talking about?
Writing!
It is for some a passion that extends into oblivion where no external ‘noise’ can infiltrate!
Where the story that’s being written comes directly into the fingers that are typing or writing!
How does this happen? Well, I don’t know for sure, my guess is simply that I have a conversational gift that doesn’t come from my mouth! lol
Some would say that’s a bonus!
I am just happy to be able to express myself for hours on end without interruption. Hehehe…. It’s not verbal diarrhoea I’ve got, simply letting my fingers do my talking! I find I make more sense this way. (I AM learning how to communicate through speaking though!!! lol)
So, for those who don’t find passion in writing, do they find passion in the spoken word? Well this isn’t always the case, they may have their gift somewhere else! We all have a gift! Mine is writing. Yours could be knitting!
Have you found your gift?
What if you could live your life using your gift to earn the money to pay your bills and have fun?
Would this be worthwhile finding out what your own ‘gift’ is?
So, rather than me chat on & on about what I do, how about if I help you to discover your own gift?
Sorry, I didn’t hear you – did you say that’d be cool?
You DO want to know what you’re good at, and you’d like to do this full time – as your work?
Great! You do need a pen(cil) though! Sorry, we do need to write some things down!
Firstly, draw 2 lines down the page creating 3 columns. Then label the columns: What I Love, What I Like and What I Dislike!
Can you guess what I want you to do next? YES! Fill the columns with things you love, like and dislike.
These can be driving, reading, washing, babysitting, playing with children, research, Facebook, anything that comes into your head, write it down in one of those columns. It will fit only one!!!
I’d carry on going till you can’t think of anything else! Then look at what you have produced.
The best thing here, is that YOU have manged to do what I call a brain-dump! Hehehe Of course you still have some brains left, you have simply uncluttered your mind!
What do you feel when you look at the lists? Are they logical?
How do you feel about the contents of each ‘list’? Surprise? Shock? The knowledge that you have been truthful with yourself?
So what now?
OK then. Circle the top 5 in each list – the activities you feel you MOST love, like & dislike.
Now, turn over the page and write down the 5 activities you LOVE…spaced out so there’s room in between each word.
Write alongside each word, what work you know is associated with each activity.
Is this making sense?
When you’ve exhausted all the possibilities, then simply do the same with the other two sets of words.
You’ll end up with a list of jobs/careers/work that you may just Love, Like or Dislike!
If your current job falls into the category of ‘Dislike’ then you have a challenge and a choice……..
Because you’ve also identified careers which you could possibly like or even love!!!
With this exercise, you may well have stumbled upon something that you hadn’t thought of before. Something you love to do and perhaps can also get paid to do! Loving your work sounds like a great idea doesn’t it? It’s possible – I am proof!!!
